Abstract

The Quranic recitation movement implemented in various Islamic educational institutions, such as Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), has a significant positive impact on children. This study aims to understand the background of the implementation of Quranic recitation during the third quarter of the night at the An-Nur Islamic Boarding School in the Al-Maghfiroh Complex in Bantul, Yogyakarta, identify the character education that can be developed through this activity, and analyze the challenges faced. The researchers used a qualitative approach with a case study type. The research results indicate that the regular habit of Quranic recitation at this time plays a significant role in shaping individuals who are more organized, responsible, and have good time management skills. In addition to being a means of maintaining and improving the quality of Quranic memorization, this activity is also believed to bring blessings in various aspects of life, such as sustenance, health, and happiness. Therefore, this Quranic recitation movement can be considered an effective religious practice in supporting and strengthening the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects in the character formation of students. It means that these findings have important implications for the development of religious guidance methods in Islamic boarding schools.
