Post-Publication Discussion
Asian Journal Science and Engineering (AJSE) welcomes discussion of articles after they are published. Readers may comment on, question, or challenge any published article, and authors are given a fair opportunity to respond. This policy follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. How to Submit a Comment
- Readers may send a comment on a published article as a Letter to the Editor through the journal's Contact page, addressed to the Editor-in-Chief.
- The letter should state the article title, the DOI, and the authors, and explain clearly the issue raised (for example, questions about the methods, data, analysis, interpretation, or citations).
- Letters should be written in English, be concise (preferably no more than 1,000 words), and be supported by evidence or references. The writer's name, affiliation, and email address must be included; anonymous comments are not accepted.
- Letters should be submitted within 12 months of the article's publication date. Later submissions may be considered when they raise important scientific or ethical concerns.
2. Handling of Comments
- The editors review each letter to check that it is relevant, scientific, and courteous. Personal attacks or comments outside the scope of the article will not be considered.
- Suitable letters are forwarded to the corresponding author, who is given 30 days to respond.
- The editors may ask an independent reviewer or a member of the editorial board for advice.
- If the discussion contributes to the scientific debate, the letter and the author's reply may be published together in a following issue, linked to the original article.
- The person who raised the comment will be informed of the outcome.
3. Outcome of the Discussion
If a discussion shows that a published article contains errors or other problems, the editors may issue a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction, as described in our Correction and Retraction Policy.
4. Responsibility of Authors
Authors are expected to respond to comments on their published articles promptly, openly, and constructively, and to provide additional data or clarification when reasonably requested by the editors.
