Khudi, Insan Kamil, dan Rekonstruksi Pemikiran Religius Islam: Studi atas Pemikiran Muhammad Iqbal

Contemporary Islamic thought faces serious challenges in the form of intellectual stagnation, fatalistic tendencies, and a declining capacity to respond to the dynamics of modernity. These conditions necessitate a reconstruction of Islamic religious thought that is able to integrate normative religious values with rational and social developments. This study aims to analyze Muhammad Iqbal’s thought concerning the concepts of khudi, insan kamil, and their relevance to the reconstruction of Islamic religious thought. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods. The data are derived from Muhammad Iqbal’s major works, particularly The Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam, and are supported by secondary sources consisting of nationally accredited SINTA journal articles and relevant academic books. Data analysis is conducted through content analysis and a philosophical–conceptual approach. The findings indicate that khudi functions as an ontological foundation that affirms human beings as active and creative subjects, while insan kamil represents the ethical and axiological goal of human self-development. These two concepts serve as the basis for reconstructing Islamic religious thought that emphasizes dynamism, ijtihad, and the integration of revelation, reason, and empirical experience. Iqbal’s ideas offer a paradigm of Islamic renewal that remains spiritually grounded while being responsive to the challenges of modernity
