Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using Kitab Ilmu Sharaf untuk Pemula by Abu Razin & Ummu Razin in teaching Qawāid Sharaf in the “Taktsif Sharaf Online” program at Yayasan BISA, Depok – West Java. The background of this study stems from the phenomenon that learning Sharaf is often considered difficult and overly theoretical, especially in online settings, thus requiring teaching media that are effective, adaptive, and contextual. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with observation, interviews, and documentation analysis of learning activities over eight weeks (18 sessions), involving ten active participants. The results show that the use of Kitab Ilmu Sharaf by Abu Razin has proven effective in improving participants’ conceptual understanding and practical skills in applying Sharaf rules. The evidence of this effectiveness is demonstrated through improved learning outcomes, including an increase of 30–34% in the average mastery of tashrif patterns, with 50% of participants scoring ≥700 out of 900 total points in the final evaluation. Participants also showed increased confidence in constructing and applying word patterns, active participation in discussions, and independence in performing daily tashrif exercises. The book applies several learning methods, including: the Taḥlīlī Method (step-by-step analytical approach) by structuring material from introducing the jidzr (root) to application in sentences; the Tadrīb Muṭārad Method (repetitive pattern drills) to strengthen memory of tashrif patterns; Visual-Table and Schema Methods for mapping word structures; the Qiyāsī Method (analogy-based learning) to broaden pattern application; the Contextual Method with examples from the Qur’an and daily language; the Applicative-Communicative Method through applying words in sentences and texts; and the Andragogical Method, which provides space for independent learning suited to adult learners in an online setting. These methods are supported by seven main factors: (1) a humanistic approach that increases motivation; (2) integration of the four language skills; (3) active participation and discipline of the learners; (4) measurable improvements in learning outcomes; (5) systematic visual teaching media; (6) online learning design based on andragogical principles; and (7) the book’s compatibility with the needs of modern learners. This study concludes that teaching Qawāid Sharaf using Abu Razin’s book in the “Taktsif Sharaf Online” program is not only academically effective but also efficient, applicable, and relevant to the characteristics of digital-era learning. The results affirm that classical books repackaged in a modern format remain highly functional in online-based Arabic language instruction.
