Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the flipped classroom learning model combined with a microlearning strategy to enhance the effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) instruction. The study is motivated by the low level of active student engagement in PAI lessons, which remain dominated by conventional lecture methods, and the limited face-to-face time available to achieve a deep understanding of religious subject matter. The flipped classroom model shifts the delivery of course content outside the classroom via digital media, while face-to-face sessions are utilized for discussion, in-depth exploration, and the practical application of religious values. The microlearning strategy is implemented by presenting content in brief, structured, and easily accessible learning units, thereby enabling students to grasp the material incrementally. This study employs a qualitative approach through library research, examining various literature sources, including scholarly journals, books, and prior research findings, related to the flipped classroom, microlearning, and the effectiveness of PAI instruction. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques to identify patterns, connections, and conclusions from the various sources examined. The results indicate that combining the flipped classroom and microlearning approaches has the potential to enhance conceptual understanding, active participation, learning motivation, and learner autonomy in PAI. This is because students can study foundational material independently through short learning units prior to face-to-face sessions, thereby allowing class time to be focused on discussion and the deepening of religious values. The study recommends that PAI teachers consider integrating these two models gradually, taking into account digital infrastructure readiness, teacher competence in designing digital materials, and student readiness for independent learning
