Abstract

Islamic Religious Education teachers play a crucial role in shaping students' character and morals. However, in the current era of globalization, various forms of moral degradation are beginning to appear in students, such as cheating, inappropriate language, and disregard for applicable rules. Therefore, the existence of PAI teachers is crucial to instill religious values and guide students to avoid deviant behavior. The research question is how teachers' presence in overcoming student moral degradation at SMP Negeri 6 Metro. This study aims to determine how the presence of PAI teachers in overcoming student moral degradation at SMP Negeri 6 Metro. This research is qualitative. Primary data sources include PAI teachers and students, while secondary data sources come from journals, relevant scientific articles, the vice principal for student affairs, and the principal. The research location is SMP Negeri 6 Metro. Data collection techniques used interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers is crucial in addressing student moral degradation through four primary roles: role models, inspiration, spiritual guides, and agents of social change. Indications of moral degradation appear to be decreasing, and students are demonstrating better, more focused, and more responsible attitudes.
