Abstract

This study aims to analyze the practice of Walimatul Ursy held on the shoulders of the road in Jati Datar Village, Bandar Mataram Sub-district, Central Lampung Regency, from the perspective of Maqashid al-Syari'ah. This research uses a field study approach with qualitative descriptive methods to describe the event of Walimatul Ursy using the road shoulder based on existing facts. Data collection was carried out through interviews. In Jati Datar Village, the community is generally unaware that holding a walimah requires permission from the local police chief. However, this practice has been recognized and approved by most village officials and the surrounding community. From the perspective of Maqashid al-Syari'ah, the purpose of the practice is to preserve five essential aspects: al-Hifd al-Dhin (preservation of religion), al-Hifd al-Nafs (preservation of life), al-Hifd al-Aql (preservation of intellect), al-Hifd al-Nasl (preservation of offspring), and al-Hifd al-Mal (preservation of wealth). The illegal aspect concerning the use of road shoulders in this village has been resolved through deliberation among residents, involving authorized elements such as village officials and the police. Consequently, the legal issue is considered minor compared to the greater benefits it brings, allowing the practice to be accepted by the community.
