Abstract

The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in Indonesia currently shows a number that is still quite high. According to Prasetyawati, there were 20 thousand mothers who died due to complications during pregnancy and childbirth. Baby blues are one of the most common postpartum complications. The prevalence of Baby Blues varies around the world. In Asia, the incidence of Baby Blues is between 26-85% and in Indonesia, the incidence of Baby Blues is around 50-70%. In Indonesia, the symptoms of Baby Blues are often considered a normal thing that usually occurs in new mothers as a side effect of postpartum fatigue. So that most postpartum mothers are not aware that they are experiencing Baby Blues. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the occurrence of Baby Blues in postpartum mothers. This study used a cross-sectional study, with a population of 409 postpartum mothers and a sample of 30 postpartum mothers. The instrument in this study used the EPDS (Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale) questionnaire. Data processing used univariate and bivariate with the chi-square test. There is no effect between age and p-value of 0.722, parity of p-value of 0.200, employment of p-value of 0.90, socio-economic p-value of 0.130. There is no effect between age, parity, occupation, and socioeconomic and the incidence of baby blues.
