Penggunaan Media Audio Visual untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Menyimak dan Motivasi Belajar Siswa SMP

This study aims to improve listening skills and learning motivation by using audio-visual media in class VII students of SMP Negeri 7 Mesuji. Classroom action research is research in which researchers collaborate with several parties, both school principals, class teachers, and researchers simultaneously, with two cycles, each cycle three times meeting. The method used in this study is the classroom action research (CAR) method. This study used the subject of VII graders of SMP Negeri 7 Mesuji. The population of this study was 56 students. The entire population was sampled, so the sample was 56 students. The data collection method uses observation checklists, interviews and documentation. Data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. The results showed that using audio-visual media effectively increased the ability to listen to fantasy stories of Grade VII students of SMP Negeri 7 Mesuji. This can be seen from the research results showing that the ability to listen to students during pre-cycle only get an average value of 37.32, which is included in the less category. At the time of the action in the first cycle the listening ability of students experienced an increase to 49.28 and included in the sufficient category. Furthermore, in the second cycle (the second) the value reached 64.82 (Good). Likewise in increasing learning motivation, the use of audio visual methods also increases learning motivation. In the pre-cycle score 48.35 is included in the sufficient category; in the first cycle, the value of 54.78 is included in the sufficient category, while in the second cycle the value of 68.21 is included in the good category.
