Madrasah (Tidak) ada Urgensinya dalam Sistem Pendidikan Nasional (Sisdiknas)

The National Education System Bill launched by the government reaped problems in its discussion, due to the loss of the word "madrasah" in the bill. Madrasah in Indonesia itself has historically been an educational unit whose existence always appears in every changing era. This paper aims to find out the existence of Madrasah education units in the world of education in Indonesia, both historically and regulatorily. Research is a type of normative or literature research. Data collection through literature review is related to the focus of research, in the form of literature review, theory and documentations Meanwhile, data analysis is carried out descriptively by triangulation. The results showed that Madrasah was socially recognized for its existence in Indonesia, until in the end it received legal guarantees through regulations and was recognized as a formal education unit equivalent to other levels of education. One of these regulations is Law 20/2003 on the National Education System (Sisdiknas), where the word "school" is always united with "madrasah". The omission of the word "madrasa" in the view of Islamic education has the potential to remove certain characteristics and characteristics of the unit or level of education attached to it.
