Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengeksplorasi masalah, kendala dan tantangan peningkatan kualitas kognitif siswa sekolah dasar di Papua Barat. Metode yang digunakan penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan pedoman wawancara. Jumlah sampel penelitian ini sebanyak 16 guru yang berasal dari 4 sekolah di Kota Sorong dan Kabupaten Sorong. Temuan penting dalam penelitian ini mengungkapkan kendala utama dalam peningkatan kualitas kognitif siswa di Papua Barat berpusat pada 4 indikator yaitu masalah kurangnya keterampilan mengajar guru, Minimnya partisipasi siswa dalam belajar, serta kurang berhasilnya cara didik orang tua terhadap siswa meliputi mindset dan kesadaran belajar.
